Professor Kwan Hee-kyuas the first Korean acquired an electrodiagnosticmedicine expertise in the USA in 1989 and made great contributions to the development of electrodiagnosticmedicine as a regular member of AANEM (American Association of Neuromuscular & ElectrodiagnosticMedicine). Therefore, the skill and accuracy of the diagnosis of neuromuscular diseases are equal to those of the world and he performed more than 3000 cases of electrodiagnosis. The Department opened the neuromuscular disease clinic which provides accurate diagnosis and quality patient care by setting up treatment plans. He has amassed ample experiences in the diagnosis of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, the main cause of hand numbness, and published many papers in prominent academic journals at home and abroad. In terms of curing, not only preservative treatment but also cooperative network with the Department of Plastic Surgery is used to ensure the most optimal treatment method should beapplied.
Professor Kang Yoon-gyuis the guru of curing myalgiain Korea and an expert on musculoskeletal diseases. He developed a computer program which enables doctors to easily diagnose musculoskeletal diseases and explain the curing power of stretching. He is the preacher of muscular stretching which is the best way to cure myalgia.
Professor Lee Sang-heonstudied at Non-surgical spinal treatment center and Spinal diagnostics center of Stanford University for five years and published about 20 research papers on PETD including the first paper of its kind in prominent international journals. He also jointly wrote four books in English on spinal treatment medicine. Currently, he performs minimal invasive therapies such as chemical therapy and PETD, and is devoted to research and development of sophisticated techniques on diagnosis and therapy of disk diseases.
Professor PyonSung-beomgraduated from Korea University College of Medicine in 1991 and acquired the medical expertise on physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1996. He worked as clinical instructor at the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at AnamHospital from 1996 to Feb. 1999, and acquired the qualification of American Board of ElectrodiagnosticMedicine in 1999. As an assistant professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Ulsan College of Medicine, Seoul AsanMedical Center, from March 2002 to February 2006, he is specialized in stroke, cognitive language rehabilitation, and electrodiagnosisand tried to identify causes of cranial nerve damage and neuroplasticityin patients whose brain is damaged using functional MRI, the latest imaging technique. In particular, he is active in aphasia, dysphasia and cognitive rehabilitation. Since March, 2006, he has served as an associate professor at the Department and his specialties include stroke, cognitive dysphasia (aphasia, cognitive impairment, language impairment) and rehabilitation of neuromuscluraldiseases.
In addition, the Department runs Palsy Rehabilitation Clinic and Spinal Damage Clinic to provide comprehensive and systemic rehabilitation therapy, and pays special interest in the diagnosis and treatment of backache and cerebral palsy. With expansion of the department, higher quality treatments are provided by using newly introduced medical equipment in a more spacious area.
