Welcome to the Department of Nuclear Medicine!
The nuclear medicine is a branch of medicine that diagnoses and treats diseases using image tests that scan the whole body or body parts, and sample tests of bodily liquid such as urine. The Department carries out image tests, sample tests and isotope therapy using unsealed radioisotope.

 

 

-Image test :Scanning using Gamma Camera, SPECT, and PET

 

-Sample test : Detecting traces in bodily liquid such as blood and urine in radioimmunoassay method. (about 90 tests a day including hepatitis, thyroid hormone test, and tumor test)

 

-Isotope therapy :Effectively treating diseases like hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer by injecting radioisotope

 

Since the establishment of the Isotope Lab in Korea University Hospital in 1968, the Department has greatly improved in patient care, research, publications, and education. In March 2000, it opened the nuclear medicine program, indicating that it plays academically and administratively an independent role. With the introduction of PET-CT in 2004, and the latest PET-CT and SPECT in 2007, we are fully committed to patient care.
